A 10-year-old New Orleans boy escaped his alleged kidnappers by kicking down a locked door after being abducted at gunpoint.
A 10-year-old boy in New Orleans’ Algiers neighborhood escaped his alleged kidnappers last week after being abducted at gunpoint near his bus stop, police said.
The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. on September 19 when two unidentified suspects forced the child into a van and drove him to an abandoned house, according to the New Orleans Police Department. The boy told WVUE that once inside, the men attempted to take photos of him before one stepped out, leaving the other behind.
“I kicked the door down, and I had ran,” the boy recounted, adding that another child, also held in the house, fled with him.
Video footage later showed the boy reuniting with his father, who had been searching for him. His clothes and backpack were later discovered near his family’s home.
NOPD said the case is being investigated as an aggravated kidnapping. No arrests have been made.
