“The victims were returning from the weekly market in Bokkos town when their vehicle was ambushed. Victims included women and little babies,” said BCDF chairman.
At least 14 passengers, including women and children, were killed Thursday evening in an ambush along Chirang road in Mangor District, Bokkos LGA of Plateau State.
Daily Trust gathered the victims were returning from the weekly Bokkos market when gunmen opened fire. The Bokkos Cultural Development Forum (BCDF), in a statement by its chairman, Farmasum Fuddang, condemned the killings.
“The victims were returning from the weekly market in Bokkos town when their vehicle was ambushed. Victims included women and little babies,” Fuddang said. He blamed the attack on members of a particular ethnic group seeking control of the area.
In response, Saleh Adamu, chairman of the Gan Allah Fulani Development Association, denied the claims, stating, “There is no evidence the attack was carried out by Fulani… We condemn the killings.”
As of press time, security forces had not issued an official statement. Calls to Operation Safe Haven and the Plateau Police Command went unanswered.
