A 53-year-old man is remanded in Ondo State for the alleged repeated rape of his 16-year-old niece and forcing her to terminate two pregnancies. Police say the victim reported the assaults herself.
A 53-year-old man has been remanded in custody in Ondo State after his 16-year-old niece accused him of serial rape and forcing her to undergo two abortions.
The incident, which occurred on Okeodunwo Street in the Igbado area of Ondo town, was reported directly to the state police command by the victim.
According to police spokesperson Ayanlade Olayinka, the teenager alleged her uncle sexually assaulted her “almost daily,” and that after each encounter, “he would clean her private part with a piece of cloth” to conceal the abuse.
Shockingly, the investigation revealed the suspect had also facilitated the termination of two pregnancies resulting from the assaults.
The Gender-Based Offences Unit promptly arrested the man. “He has since been arraigned before a competent court… and remanded in custody pending further trial,” Olayinka confirmed, reiterating the command’s commitment to ensuring offenders “face the full weight of the law without compromise.”
I think that it is high time they introduce castration for any rapist in our penal code
