Human rights groups in Ghana are demanding justice after a 13-year-old girl was allegedly gang-defiled by more than 20 men in Madina, a suburb of Accra.

According to the Ghana News Agency, the assaults began in February 2025, with perpetrators including teenagers. The victim, now pregnant, has suffered severe emotional trauma.

A 45-year-old mason, Clement Kwame, has been named the principal suspect. The girl reported that Kwame, who lives near her, lured her with false promises before assaulting her and facilitating attacks by others. Threats prevented her from seeking help earlier.

The Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) is investigating, with some suspects arrested. However, Kwame and other key perpetrators remain at large. Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG) and the Justice Revived Foundation (JRF) are urging authorities to ensure accountability and provide the victim with medical, psychological, and social support.

“We will not rest until justice is served,” HRRG and JRF stated. “Every child has the right to safety.” The groups also called for stronger protections for children.
