A coalition of opposition leaders and ex-APC figures on Wednesday officially took over the ADC as their political platform for the 2027 elections.
ABUJA — A coalition of opposition politicians, including former ministers from the Buhari administration and ex-APC National Working Committee members, formally took over the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Wednesday as a platform for the 2027 elections.
At the handover event held at the Yar’Adua Centre, ADC National Chairman Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu said, “Nigeria is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and needs to be revived.” He announced former Senate President David Mark as Interim National Chairman and former Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola as Interim Secretary.
David Mark accused President Tinubu of “total state capture,” saying his Renewed Hope Agenda has become “Renewed Hopelessness.” He warned, “This coalition is to prevent Nigeria’s descent into a one-party state.”
He alleged that the National Assembly has been “reduced to praise singers,” allowing Tinubu to rule unchecked. A coalition leader added, “If I told you the number of APC governors in the North talking to us, you would be shocked.”
