“Yesterday, I vowed to stand against the stealing of elections and oppose bad governance,” Abubakar said.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has vowed to resist election rigging and tackle governance failures ahead of the 2027 general elections. He made the statement Saturday via X (formerly Twitter) after meeting with a delegation of Gombe State stakeholders led by former minister Idris Abdullahi.

“Yesterday, I vowed to stand against the stealing of elections and oppose bad governance,” Abubakar said.

He described the engagement as a chance to reflect on Nigeria’s governance and called for urgent reforms. “I stressed that enough is enough, and that Nigerians cannot continue to suffer amidst an abundance of resources owing to bad governance,” he added.

Abubakar expressed confidence in the ADC-led coalition of opposition parties, highlighting its commitment to transparency. “The quality of the interim leadership shows that we are ready to bring integrity to the process,” he noted.

He welcomed the Gombe group’s endorsement of the coalition and recalled supporting Danjuma Goje’s 2003 gubernatorial bid as part of his enduring ties to the state.
