South-South APC adopts Tinubu, four governors as sole candidates for 2027 elections.
Zone praises Tinubu’s reforms, urges Rivers, Bayelsa governors to join APC.
The South-South chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
At the zonal stakeholders meeting held Saturday in Benin City, Edo State, the party also endorsed Governors Bassey Otu (Cross River), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), and Monday Okpebholo (Edo) for re-election.
“The South-South is speaking with one voice that we are with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu united. This is our mandate,” said Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
A communique read by APC National Vice Chairman (South-South), Chief Victor Giadom, passed a vote of confidence on Tinubu and Akpabio.
The meeting called on Rivers and Bayelsa governors to join the APC, commending the region’s appointees for their loyalty.
Governor Okpebholo said the unity move would help reposition the South-South politically.
The resolution was unanimously adopted, with Akpabio presiding and Senator Adams Oshiomhole seconding the motion.
