The number of journalists killed in Gaza since October 2023 has risen to 225, according to a statement released by the media office of the Gaza government on Thursday.

“Since the beginning of the war of extermination against the Palestinian population, the number of killed journalists has increased to 225 after the deaths of four more people,” the statement read.

The media office called on the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS), and international media organisations to “condemn these systematic crimes against Palestinian journalists and media workers in the Gaza Strip.”

Tahseen al-Astal, deputy director of the PJS, told RIA Novosti that four journalists working for Arab satellite TV networks were killed in an Israeli airstrike near the al-Ahli Arab Baptist Hospital in Gaza City.

The IFJ and PJS condemned the incident and urged an immediate investigation.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, over 4,400 Palestinians have been killed and 13,400 injured since March 18 as Israeli strikes resumed.
