The project resurfaced in the 2024 and 2025 budgets under new codes, prompting MonITNG to call for urgent investigations into recycled budgeting and false completion claims.
AKWA IBOM — A ₦246 million bridge repair project in Akwa Ibom, declared completed by contractor Nakiz Integrated Services Ltd in 2023, has been found unexecuted, MonITNG reports. The Ndiya Bridge project along Ekparakwa–Etinan–Ikot Ubo Road was allegedly “completed, certified, and signed off by the supervising agency, with a certificate of completion issued.” However, a field visit on 17 April 2024 revealed “no repair work had been carried out at all,” with the bridge in a “deplorable state, collapsed, unsafe, and abandoned.” Residents said the bridge has been unusable for over a decade, affecting trade and daily life. Despite this, the project resurfaced in the 2024 and 2025 national budgets with new codes and allocations. MonITNG urged EFCC, ICPC, and the Ministry of Works to investigate, stating: “Every naira released must be tracked, accounted for, and tied to visible, functional infrastructure.”
