A report found 48 reps and five senators made no plenary contributions in one year.
Forty-eight members of the house of representatives and five senators failed to make contributions during plenary in the first year of the 10th national assembly, a new report has revealed.
The Deliberative Barometer and Policy-Focus Productivity Report (NASS-DBPFR), released Thursday by the Erudite Growth and Advancement Foundation (ERGAF-Africa), tracked lawmakers’ activities between June 14, 2023, and June 13, 2024.
The senate logged 2,275 plenary activities, with debates making up 29.1 percent, while the house recorded 4,239 activities, with 11.9 percent being debate contributions. Bills accounted for 15.5 percent of senate activities and 21 percent in the house.
Deputy senate president Barau Jibrin led with 38 debate interventions, while house majority leader Julius Ihonvbere had 26. Some members, however, had no motions, petitions, or debates credited to them, including Abubakar Baba Zango and Stainless Chijioke Nwodo.
