“As I am talking to you, there are not less than 64 communities that have been taken over by bandits on the Plateau between Bokkos, Barkin Ladi and Riyom local government areas.”

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has revealed that bandits now control 64 communities in the state, describing recent killings in Bokkos LGA as “sponsored and genocidal.” The death toll from April 4 attacks rose to 52, following another assault on mourners in Ruwi community days earlier.

Appearing on Channels Television, Mutfwang stated: “I cannot find any explanation other than genocide sponsored by terrorists,” urging security agencies to uncover the perpetrators. The governor’s declaration comes as the Bokkos Cultural Development Council confirmed the escalating violence, with no group yet claiming responsibility for the coordinated attacks.
