At least 67 children have died of hunger as Israel’s Gaza blockade reaches day 103, with officials warning of an unfolding mass death crisis.
At least 67 children have died of hunger in Gaza since October 2023, as Israel’s total blockade of the territory enters its 103rd consecutive day, the Government Media Office in Gaza said on Saturday.
The office warned that over 650,000 children under five face severe malnutrition in the coming weeks due to continued restrictions on food, medicine, and fuel. “Starvation is now killing what bombs have not,” the statement said, calling the blockade “one of the most extreme forms of collective punishment in modern history.”
The media office accused Israel of pursuing a “systematic and organised starvation campaign,” placing full legal and moral responsibility on Israel and its international supporters.
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) also issued a warning: “No soap, no clean water… This, coupled with overcrowded shelters and summer heat, can lead to dire health consequences.”
Israel’s military offensive has killed nearly 57,900 Palestinians, mostly women and children, while Gaza faces mass hunger, disease, and devastation.
