The first time I experienced Ifa was when I was vomiting blood. Fela used to go to Ogun and people were mocking him, but now, I understand.
Singer Alexander Adegbola Akande, popularly known as 9ice, has opened up about a terrifying ordeal he described as a spiritual attack that left him vomiting blood for six months. The incident, which happened around 2009/2010, forced him to abandon his house after conventional treatment failed.
Speaking on The Nancy Isime Show, the musician said he has faced spiritual battles “several times,” but none as severe as this. According to him, the illness had no medical explanation.
He revealed that the experience led him to embrace traditional African spirituality. “I’m not a Christian or a Muslim, I’m a Babalawo. I’m an African. I’m a traditionalist,” he said.
Invoking the example of Fela Kuti, 9ice urged Africans to reconnect with their roots, saying indigenous faiths offer protection and healing that modern religions often neglect.
