The Federal Government is considering prominent political figures for ambassadorial appointments as part of a major shake-up in Nigeria’s diplomatic corps. Former senator Shehu Sani, political commentator Reni Omokri, and ex-minister Femi Fani-Kayode are among those reportedly under consideration.
According to a source familiar with the development, “There is a strong possibility that some known political figures will be appointed as ambassadors, and names like Shehu Sani, Reni Omokri, and Fani-Kayode are being mentioned.”
The move is part of efforts to reposition Nigeria’s foreign missions and project stronger diplomatic influence globally. The potential nominees are being evaluated for their political clout, international exposure, and loyalty to the current administration.
