The findings suggest that these alternative treatments may offer better outcomes with fewer side effects.

Dr. Jerry Adeyemo, a Nigerian researcher, has identified less invasive treatment options for prostate cancer, offering hope for reduced side effects compared to conventional methods. His study highlights therapies like high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), cryotherapy, and dietary adjustments to improve patient outcomes.
“Eight years ago, in my final year of medical school, I took on a research project that would shape the course of my career—and potentially change how prostate cancer is treated,” Adeyemo stated. “Many patients struggle not just with the illness but with the harsh side effects of standard treatments.”
His research advocates personalised care, combining hormone therapy, lifestyle changes, and plant-based compounds tailored to patients’ age, health, and cancer stage. “How can we care for people better—not just treat their cancer, but care for them?” he added, stressing improved doctor-patient communication and post-treatment support.
Adeyemo’s findings aim to enhance recovery and long-term wellbeing for prostate cancer patients.
