The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced that foreigners who overstay their visas in Nigeria will now be required to pay a daily fine of $15. The new policy, which takes immediate effect, is part of efforts to strengthen immigration compliance and curb prolonged illegal stays in the country.
The NIS made the announcement via its official communication channels, stating that the move aligns with global best practices and reinforces Nigeria’s commitment to managing migration responsibly.
“This measure is to ensure compliance with the conditions of entry and stay, and to promote orderly migration,” the service stated.
