The Lagos State Government has sealed 13 markets in the Ketu and Ikorodu areas over environmental violations. The enforcement exercise was carried out by the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) in collaboration with the state’s Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC).

According to authorities, the affected markets were shut for “persistent disregard for environmental laws, improper waste disposal, and poor hygiene practices.”

“Despite several warnings and sensitisation campaigns, the markets continued to operate under filthy conditions, endangering public health,” a LAWMA official stated.

The sealed markets include Owode Onirin, Mile 12 Perishable, Ajelogo, and several others across the two areas.
