A new study by AirAdvisor identifies the airports where luggage is most likely to disappear, analyzing passenger volume, baggage claim times, and complaint data. Frankfurt Airport ranks fifth with 61.6 million annual passengers and 3,170 “lost luggage” searches, while Istanbul Airport takes fourth place with 79.9 million travelers and frequent baggage complaints.
Research shows Frankfurt’s 18-minute baggage claim walk and Istanbul’s 3,340 annual lost luggage searches make them high-risk hubs. With 30 poor Yelp reviews and a 3.9 Google rating, Frankfurt joins Istanbul as destinations where travelers should consider carry-on only.
