“I met with Bisi Akande, Adams Oshiomhole and Abdullahi Adamu, and I asked them if this was what we had planned for the people when we started and registered our party. And they said it has changed.”

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has confirmed his departure from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the party’s deviation from its founding principles. In an interview with Deutsche Welle Hausa in Katsina, El-Rufai revealed he once met with key stakeholders — Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Bisi Akande, and Abdullahi Adamu — to express concern over the party’s direction.

“I met with Bisi Akande, Adams Oshiomhole and Abdullahi Adamu, and I asked them if this was what we had planned for the people when we started and registered our party. And they said it has changed,” he stated.

El-Rufai said repeated efforts to urge a return to APC’s original blueprint were ignored, noting the party’s failure to convene meetings for two years as a sign of its disregard for internal democracy.

“I have sworn off APC and left it with the world,” he declared. El-Rufai is one of the original 37 signatories who founded the party.
