A coalition has accused PDP governors of weakening Nigeria’s democratic foundations through actions that threaten the rule of law.

A civil society coalition has accused governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of actions that are “destroying democratic institutions” in Nigeria. In a statement, the group alleged that the PDP governors are undermining the rule of law and democratic governance through anti-democratic practices.
“Their conduct weakens institutional checks and promotes political impunity,” the coalition said, warning of long-term damage to Nigeria’s democratic structure.
They urged the governors to retrace their steps and uphold democratic norms. The PDP governors are yet to respond to the accusations, which have sparked renewed concerns about political accountability.
