A federal judge says the Trump administration showed “willful disregard” for a court order halting deportations of Venezuelan migrants.

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg has ruled there is probable cause to hold the Trump administration in criminal contempt for allegedly violating a March 15 order suspending deportation flights of Venezuelan migrants. Despite the injunction, more than 200 Venezuelans were deported to El Salvador.
Boasberg accused officials of showing “willful disregard” for the court’s ruling. The Justice Department, however, argues the flights took place before the order came into effect. The court has ordered the administration to clarify the timeline of events or face possible prosecution. The case highlights rising tensions over immigration enforcement during Trump’s tenure.
