(ABUJA, NIGERIA) – Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has reaffirmed his dedication to building a broad political coalition aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election. Speaking during a courtesy visit by a delegation of National Opinion Leaders in Abuja on Wednesday, Atiku emphasized the formation of a strong, inclusive platform.
Describing the initiative as ‘Sabo Tafiya’ (New Path), Atiku stated that leaders from various political backgrounds are uniting for this purpose. “A number of us, leaders from the APC, PDP, Labour, and others, have come together to say we are going to take a new path—a new pathway to a new Nigeria,” he announced.
In a post on his X social media handle, the former Vice President likened the coalition effort to a train making multiple stops to include Nigerians from all walks of life. He stressed that the coalition’s goal extends beyond winning the election to ensuring effective governance for future generations. “Whatever vehicle that will give us good governance in the future of our children and grandchildren, that is the vehicle we are going to ride on,” Atiku declared.
This stance appears distinct from that of some PDP governors, who reportedly view the party itself as the primary platform for 2027.
