China is intensifying efforts to strengthen its economic and diplomatic relationship with Nigeria as tensions over U.S. trade tariffs continue to grow. The move comes as the United States imposes additional tariffs on Chinese goods, prompting Beijing to expand its global partnerships—especially in Africa.
According to The Global Times, a Chinese state media outlet, “China is ready to work with Nigeria to build stronger economic, trade and investment ties.” The report highlighted China’s willingness to increase infrastructure support, technology transfer, and industrial collaboration with Nigeria.
Analysts say Beijing is leveraging the U.S. trade policy shift to gain greater influence in Africa’s largest economy, viewing Nigeria as a key strategic partner.
