A groundbreaking UK study has found that medical cannabis could play a significant role in fighting cancer, offering new hope for patients worldwide. Published in the journal Frontiers in Oncology, the research analyzed over 2,300 patients using medical cannabis oil and found signs that it may help slow tumour growth and improve quality of life.

“This is the largest observational study of its kind, and the results are very promising,” said Professor Wai Liu, co-author of the study.

The findings suggest that cannabis-based medicines could enhance cancer care by easing pain, boosting appetite, and potentially suppressing tumour activity. However, researchers cautioned that more clinical trials are needed to confirm direct anti-cancer effects.

The study tracked patients with various forms of cancer, many of whom reported reduced symptoms and improved wellbeing.
