A man identified as Alhaji Yikangi from Chikan village in Gbako Local Government Area of Niger State has reportedly killed Muhammad Ma’aba, the lover of his ex-wife, Fatima Suleiman.
Ma’aba, from Fujeregi village, was said to be planning to marry Suleiman when the incident occurred. Despite divorcing her three times, Yikangi allegedly insisted Suleiman must not remarry.
Ma’aba was reportedly attacked between Saganuwa and Fujeregi by a group led by Yikangi.
Confirming the incident, Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said: “On 17/4/2025 around 2pm, information was received that a group led by one Alh. Yikangi… attacked one Muhammad Ma’aba… The victim was reportedly beaten into a coma… He died on the way to Lemu General Hospital.”
Police say investigations are ongoing and efforts to arrest suspects are underway.
