The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said he is open to forgiving suspended Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara if he offers a sincere apology.
Wike, speaking during a media parley in Abuja, stated that the political crisis in Rivers State could be resolved if Fubara takes genuine steps toward peace.
“Has anybody approached anybody? I don’t like people who are hypocrites. I have told her to mention an elder in Rivers running around the governor who has taken steps to achieve peace?” Wike said.
Wike and Fubara have been at odds since 2023, leading to a crisis that split the state House of Assembly.
As the situation escalated, President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency, suspended Fubara for six months, and appointed a sole administrator.
“I’m open to forgiveness if he comes sincerely,” Wike added.
