The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, and the bank’s Director of Legal Services, Salam-Alada Kofo, have been sued for contempt at the Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged disobedience of a Supreme Court order.
Melrose General Services, in suit FHC/ABJ/CS/532/2025, also named the CBN, EFCC, and Minister of Finance as respondents.
The firm alleges that N220 million, part of a reversed forfeiture from the Paris Club Refund, remains unpaid despite the apex court’s directive.
“The respondents’ partial compliance undermines the authority of the Supreme Court,” said Melrose’s lawyer, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN).
The CBN’s counsel, Abdulfatai Oyedele, said the court ordered the N220 million paid to Wasp Network and Thebe Wellness.
He added, “Wasp Network has demanded N200m, while Thebe Wellness has not yet claimed the remaining N20m.”
Justice Inyang Ekwo adjourned the case to June 4, 2025.
