“I am still repeating it today with more seriousness; rise and defend yourselves,”…the killers have obtained sophisticated arms… you must defend yourselves.” Danjuma said.
As the death toll from herdsmen attacks in Benue State reached 56 on Saturday, ex-Defence Minister Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) renewed his call for Nigerians to defend themselves.
“I am still repeating it today with more seriousness; rise and defend yourselves,” Danjuma declared at a gathering in Takum, Taraba State. “The killers have obtained sophisticated arms… you must defend yourselves.”
Benue Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia confirmed the rising casualties during a tour of attacked communities in Logo and Ukum LGAs. “This is real war… there’s no room to sleep with two eyes closed,” he stated.
Meanwhile, fresh fears emerged in Kwara State as the terrorist group “Mahmuda” resumed operations in Kaiama and Baruten LGAs.
Governor Alia appealed to the federal government for urgent assistance, pledging support for victims’ families. Danjuma, addressing a crowd including Governor Kefas, warned that the killings had intensified and self-defence was now essential for survival.
