Let me make it clear — I will never go against my leader, Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa
Oluwagbenga Abiola, vice-chairman of Agege Local Government Area, has stepped down from the chairmanship race in favour of Abdulganiyu Obasa, son of Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.
Abiola, considered a frontrunner in the July 12 council election, expressed satisfaction with the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s decision.
“Let me make it clear — I will never go against my leader, Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa,” Abiola said in an interview with NAN.
Recalling his political journey, Abiola credited Obasa with his rise, from special assistant in 2015 to vice-chairman in 2021.
“So, why would I oppose a man who built me politically and helped me grow in experience and influence?” he stated, dismissing pressure allegations.
He urged members of his Obasa Youth Alliance (OYA) to support Abdulganiyu’s candidacy, affirming loyalty to the party’s decision and expressing hope for future roles.
“I trust my leader. He knows what’s best,” Abiola said.
