UK deports 43 Nigerians in latest Immigration crackdown

This marks the second deportation flight to Nigeria and Ghana since the last general election, bringing the total number of deportees under the new administration to 87.

The United Kingdom has deported 43 Nigerians, including 15 failed asylum seekers and 11 convicted offenders, as part of its tightened immigration controls. Seven others left voluntarily under the operation, according to a gov.uk report. The move aligns with the UK’s “Plan for Change,” targeting individuals without legal residency.  

This marks the second deportation flight to Nigeria under the current UK government, bringing total deportees to 87. Officials noted strengthened UK-Nigeria migration cooperation, with over 24,000 deportations since last year—an 11% rise. Foreign offender removals also increased by 16%, totaling 3,594.
