Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has penned a scathing, sarcastic apology to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, reigniting discussions on gender dynamics and power struggles in the National Assembly. In her letter, laced with irony, she mocked expectations placed on her, stating: *“How remiss of me not to understand that my refusal to indulge your… ‘requests’ was not merely a personal choice but a constitutional violation of certain men’s entitlement.”* The letter highlights perceived gender bias, with Akpoti-Uduaghan defiantly defending her dignity.

The suspended lawmaker’s letter took aim at male entitlement in politics, sarcastically pleading for forgiveness: “Please find it in your magnanimous heart… to forgive this stubborn woman who mistakenly believed that her seat in the Senate was earned through elections, not erections.” Her remarks have fueled fresh debates about sexism and power imbalances in Nigeria’s legislature, drawing mixed reactions from the public and fellow lawmakers.
