In coordinated operations across Nigeria, the NDLEA seized over 2 million opioid pills and dismantled drug farms.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered an 80-room hotel on Victoria Island, Lagos, used as a front for drug trafficking. Mr. Femi Babafemi, NDLEA spokesman, said operatives recovered 589 bags of Canadian Loud, weighing 417.3 kilograms and valued at ₦1,042,500,000. Three suspects were arrested while two remain at large. Vehicles, televisions, and refrigerators suspected to be proceeds of the trade were also seized.
Meanwhile, in Jigawa, NDLEA intercepted a Toyota Sienna carrying 200,000 pills of tramadol and 217,500 pregabalin capsules. Follow-up operations in Kano led to the arrest of a supplier and seizure of an additional 1,584,000 tramadol pills.
In Lagos, officers intercepted cocaine hidden in body cream and pentazocine injections bound for Canada. At the Seme border, three Ghanaian women were caught smuggling cannabis.
Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) praised the agency’s efforts, saying they maintained “a fair balance between their drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction efforts.”
