In a letter laced with irony, Akpoti-Uduaghan apologised for “the grievous crime of possessing dignity and self-respect” and mocked expectations of compliance.
Suspended Senate Committee Chairman on Diaspora and NGOs, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central), has issued a sarcastic apology to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, intensifying debates over gender dynamics in the Senate.
In a letter laced with irony, Akpoti-Uduaghan apologised for “the grievous crime of possessing dignity and self-respect” and mocked expectations of compliance. She wrote: “Please find it in your magnanimous heart — somewhere buried deep beneath layers of entitlement — to forgive this stubborn woman who mistakenly believed that her seat in the Senate was earned through elections, not erections.”
Their feud, dating back to July 2024 when Akpabio rebuked her on the floor, escalated with her 2025 sexual harassment allegations. Though dismissed procedurally, her accusations sparked protests under the banner “We are all Natasha.”
While Akpabio has denied all wrongdoing and threatened defamation suits, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s latest letter cements her status among activists as a bold challenger of systemic sexism in Nigerian politics.
