“He (Kwam 1) may be the head of the princes in his household, but if he wants to be the head of Fuji, he should just kill me.”

75-year-old Fuji pioneer General Kollington Ayinla has bluntly rejected Kwam 1’s perceived ambition to lead the genre, stating in a March Agbaletu TV interview: “He should just kill me… It’s impossible.” The Baba Alatika maintained that only himself and late Sikiru Ayinde Barrister founded Fuji, dismissing Kwam 1’s recent claims about structuring the genre as insufficient for leadership. “If Barrister wanted him as successor, he would’ve announced it,” Kollington argued, accusing Kwam 1 of leveraging connections rather than merit.

The outburst reignites Fuji music’s perennial power struggles, following recent rivalries involving Saheed Osupa, Pasuma, and others. Kollington’s declaration—“They’ll say General Kollington Ayinla”—underscores the unresolved tension between generations in the decades-old genre.
