”Dad told my brother that he wants to go home. Where is he? Where are his phones? He has not been online or picking his calls. Where is he?”
A family feud erupts as King Sunny Ade’s daughter alleges her brother is controlling the music icon’s finances and movements.
Damilola Esther, daughter of juju maestro King Sunny Ade (KSA), has accused her stepbrother Dayo of “holding their father hostage” and misappropriating his earnings. In viral social media posts, she demanded Dayo’s arrest, claiming: “Dad told my brother he wants to go home… Where are his phones?” She alleged KSA was being booked for events without fulfilling engagements, urging authorities to recover “stolen” funds.
Dayo, in an exclusive rebuttal to Punch, denied the claims, stating KSA performed recently in Lagos and has an upcoming Akure show. “The allegation is false… She’s not in the right frame of mind,” he said, revealing Damilola spoke with their father for 30 minutes on Easter Sunday. He clarified he assists KSA informally but isn’t his “official manager.”
The public spat highlights tensions within the 77-year-old musician’s family, with Dayo dismissing the accusations as baseless while affirming KSA’s active performance schedule.
