An 18-year-old Missouri girl, Nyla Simmons, died late Saturday night after falling off a moving Cadillac Escalade she was dancing on and being struck by a fire truck.
The incident occurred around 11:20 p.m. at the intersection of Compton and Chouteau, St. Louis Police reported.
“A preliminary investigation revealed that a Cadillac Escalade was stopped at a red light… The Escalade made a left turn and an 18-year-old woman who was dancing on the roof, fell off and onto the pavement. Moments later, she was struck by a fire truck who was going lights and sirens responding to a call,” police said.
Her parents, Everett and Letrice Simmons, described Nyla as joyful and outgoing. “Nyla was out having fun,” Letrice said.
“We want all her people and her friends to take this and learn from it,” Everett added.
Nyla was set to start cosmetology school on Monday.
