At least 200 officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) have been dismissed in a major restructuring led by newly appointed chief executive, Bayo Ojulari.
It is confirmed that Bala Wunti, former head of NAPIMS; Lawal Sade, chief compliance officer; and Ibrahim Onoja, managing director of the Port Harcourt Refinery, are among those affected.
“Over 200 employees have just been asked to go,” a top official said anonymously. “This restructuring will enhance female representation in leadership positions.”
Sources said Ojulari aims to broaden opportunities for women and minorities. Maryamu Idris has been appointed managing director of trading, while Obioma Abangwu is now the chief liaison officer.
NNPC has yet to release an official statement.
