Identifying the kidnapper as Abubakar, the comrade said he was shocked after seeing him inside the mosque.

Comrade M.B. Muhammad, a victim of the 2022 Kaduna-bound train attack, had a shocking encounter with one of his former abductors at a Rigasa mosque. The victim recognized the man, identified as Abubakar, who claimed to have renounced terrorism and now works as a motorcycle taxi operator. “He told me he has repented and left terrorism behind,” Muhammad wrote in a social media post, revealing some gang members had been killed while others continued criminal activities.

After a lengthy conversation, Muhammad said he forgave Abubakar and offered him charity, praying: “Oh Lord of all the worlds, guide us all and guide them too.” The Daily Trust verified Muhammad’s account during an interview at his Kaduna office, confirming the extraordinary meeting between victim and repentant kidnapper.
