Agbo declared, “There would be no LP again in Enugu State,” lauding the governor’s leadership and calling for a second term.

The Labour Party (LP) in Enugu suffered fresh setbacks as three lawmakers, including federal legislators Dennis Agbo (Igboeze/Udenu) and Mark-Chidi Obetta (Igboeze South/Nsukka), defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday.

Also defecting was Malachi-Okey Onyechi, who represents Nsukka West in the State Assembly. Their return follows the recent defections of LP leaders Emeka Mamah and Titus Odo, and the party’s 2023 governorship candidate, Chijioke Edeoga.

Speaking at the PDP Secretariat in Enugu, Onyechi said, “I’m happy to unite with my former party,” praising Governor Peter Mbah’s N2 billion ward development initiative. Obetta cited Mbah’s strides in infrastructure and public services.

Agbo declared, “There would be no LP again in Enugu State,” lauding the governor’s leadership and calling for a second term.

PDP Chairman Dr. Martin Chukwunwike welcomed the defectors, saying, “With their defection, the trouble we encountered in 2023 election is over. The tsunami is over and 2027 will be seamless.”
