Babcock University, Ogun State, on Monday condemned allegations by Mrs Fijabi Omotayo that her son, Oladipupo Siwajuola, went missing on campus, threatening legal action over the claims.

In a statement, Director of Communication, Dr Joshua Suleiman, described her social media posts as “sensational and misleading,” accusing her of damaging the university’s reputation.

“Contrary to public assertions, the student in question left the university campus unlawfully,” the statement said.

The university said Oladipupo, a JUPEB student, was later found in Akute, Ogun State, near his former secondary school.

Roommates allegedly reported his “suspicious behaviour” and items like “black soap and local sponge,” which his mother claimed were for skin treatment.

“We believe this may have been a cover for her son’s misdemeanours,” Babcock said.

The school accused Mrs Fijabi of discouraging reports of his absence and said WhatsApp evidence supported its claims. It confirmed referring the matter to police and said the student faces disciplinary review.
