Strong winds may precede rainfall, NiMet noted, cautioning against flying debris and falling branches. “People with respiratory issues should take precautions,” the agency added.
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) on Monday issued a weather alert predicting widespread thunderstorms and hazy conditions nationwide from Tuesday through Thursday.
NiMet warned of fluctuating patterns, with dust haze expected in the North and isolated thunderstorms across central and southern regions.
“Residents of Katsina and Kano should expect slight dust haze, while thunderstorms are likely in Taraba and Adamawa,” the agency said.
Sunny skies with cloudy patches are forecast in the North Central zone, with storms expected in the FCT, Nasarawa, Kogi, Kwara, and Benue.
In the South, morning storms may affect Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Cross River, extending later to Lagos, Osun, Ekiti, Delta, and more.
Strong winds may precede rainfall, NiMet noted, cautioning against flying debris and falling branches. “People with respiratory issues should take precautions,” the agency added.
Residents are advised to avoid driving in the rain, disconnect appliances, and stay indoors during storms.
NiMet urged airlines to obtain up-to-date, airport-specific forecasts for flight safety.
