Ex-Obi ally joins APC, declares Labour Party ‘finished’

‘LP is not exactly what people think they are seeing’

Valentine Ozigbo, a former Labour Party (LP) chieftain and Peter Obi ally, has warned that the party faces imminent collapse due to a wave of defections. Speaking on Arise TV, the ex-Anambra PDP governorship candidate, who recently joined the APC, claimed elected LP members privately confided plans to abandon the party. “LP is not what people think… it’s almost in its dying days,” Ozigbo declared.

The politician, who lost the APC Anambra governorship primary, said he defected to be a “catalyst for change.” He alleged that Governor Chukwuma Soludo, an APGA member, covertly collaborates with APC while opposing Obi’s presidential bid. “If Soludo wants to be APGA, be APGA. Don’t be APC at night,” Ozigbo quipped, referencing rumors of Tinubu’s support for Soludo’s re-election.

Ozigbo’s remarks follow his February switch to APC after LP’s 2023 presidential defeat. His claims align with growing scrutiny of opposition stability as Nigeria’s 2027 elections approach.
