“Engr. Folasade Adebayo should write a letter of apology to the University Governing Council for putting the name of the University into disrepute.” — Investigative Panel Report.

A panel investigating sexual harassment allegations against Vice Chancellor Abayomi Fasina of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has exonerated him, ruling that staffer Folasade Adebayo must apologize for “bringing the university into disrepute.” The panel cited exchanged gifts and a “friendly relationship” as proof of consensual interactions, dismissing claims of coercion. The investigative panel, constituted by FUOYE’s Governing Council, concluded that Vice Chancellor Abayomi Fasina did not sexually harass Folasade Adebayo, a university staffer who accused him of misconduct. In its seven-page report, the panel stated that the duo shared a “friendly relationship,” evidenced by exchanged gifts and professional concessions, including backdated promotions. It ruled that Adebayo’s recordings of Fasina—made without his consent—were inadmissible as proof of harassment, instead citing them as evidence of cordiality.

The panel dismissed Adebayo’s claims, asserting that the queries she received after rejecting Fasina’s advances were due to “professional negligence.” It also noted that two former council members, whom Fasina allegedly bribed, denied receiving money, though the panel did not investigate financial records. “There was nothing in the viral audio recordings which indicated sexual harassment,” the report stated, contradicting Adebayo’s assertion that the VC’s advances were unwelcome.
