The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested a woman, Ihensekhien Miracle Obehi, at Port Harcourt International Airport for attempting to smuggle 2.5kg of cocaine to Iran. Obehi, disguised in a hijab, was intercepted on May 3 while boarding a Qatar Airways flight. A search revealed she had concealed three wraps of cocaine in her private parts, two parcels in her handbag’s false bottom, and had swallowed 67 pellets.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi confirmed the arrest on Sunday, stating the suspect excreted all 67 wraps under observation. She admitted she intended to swallow 70 pellets but couldn’t, hiding the remainder instead.
In other operations, NDLEA intercepted a British ex-convict with 37.6kg of Loud cannabis at Lagos Airport and arrested multiple suspects with over 3,000kg of skunk in Niger, Kaduna, Bauchi, and Lagos States.
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Marwa (Rtd) praised the officers for their commitment to curbing drug trafficking across Nigeria.
