The rapper’s statement has split opinions online, with some calling him a clout chaser, while others defend his view as culturally or legally valid.
Nigerian rapper and actor Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has come under fire after claiming “fornication is not a sin” in a terse post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.
The statement quickly triggered backlash, especially from religious users who cited scripture in opposition. One user, Olivia, tweeted: “1 Cor. 6:18 tells us to flee from it… Painful, I liked you.” Another, Fash Daddy, repeatedly posted, “Fornication is a sin, FLEE.”
Others accused the rapper of attention-seeking. “You dey follow chase clout at your age,” wrote Dr Penking. Mr Wrong But Right added, “I’m shocked… May God have mercy.”
However, some users supported Falz, arguing that fornication is not sinful by legal or traditional standards. One cited Exodus 22:16, claiming Jewish tradition validates consensual premarital sex with bride price.
The post has reignited debate over religious morality versus cultural and legal interpretations, with Falz yet to issue a follow-up statement.
