“Together, we will write glorious new chapters for Brazilian football”

Carlo Ancelotti will become Brazil’s first foreign coach since 1965, taking charge of the national team until the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The 65-year-old Italian replaces Dorival Junior, who was sacked after a 4-1 defeat to Argentina.
“The greatest national team in the history of football will now be led by the most successful coach in the world,” said the CBF.
Ancelotti, who leaves Real Madrid on May 25, has won five UEFA Champions League titles—more than any other manager—and league titles in five countries.
CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues said, “He’s the greatest coach in history and now he’s in charge of the greatest team on the planet.”
Ancelotti has previously coached AC Milan, Chelsea, PSG, and Bayern Munich. He joins a Brazil side fourth in the South American qualifying standings.
Xabi Alonso, who announced his Bayer Leverkusen exit, is tipped to succeed him at Madrid.
