Wike slams PDP over zoning, says Tinubu will win again

Speaking during a live media chat on Monday, Wike blamed the PDP’s 2023 loss on selfish interests and failure to follow its zoning formula.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has warned that President Bola Tinubu will defeat the Peoples Democratic Party again in 2027 if it fails to reform its internal politics.

Speaking during a live media chat on Monday, Wike blamed the PDP’s 2023 loss on selfish interests and failure to follow its zoning formula.

“If PDP does not take care, and I say it again, watch out for what will happen,” he said. “Selfish interest can kill an organisation.”

He also defended the defection of Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to the APC, saying it was no crime to support the President.

Addressing the Rivers crisis, Wike described Governor Fubara’s woes as “self-inflicted.”

“Indeed, this is a self-inflicted injury,” he said. “When this started, I called him… We sat him down and said this thing is not good for you.”

Wike expressed doubt about Fubara’s sincerity in seeking peace. “You must show by conduct and by action,” he said.

He concluded by urging the PDP to resolve its leadership gaps and restructure properly or risk another defeat in the next general election.
