ASUU-UNN Chairman, Oyibo Eze, stated on Wednesday in Nsukka that over 1.5 million out of 1.9 million candidates scored below 200, with most failures recorded in the South-East and Lagos.

The University of Nigeria Nsukka chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has accused the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) of deliberately failing candidates from the South-East in the 2025 UTME.

ASUU-UNN Chairman, Oyibo Eze, stated on Wednesday in Nsukka that over 1.5 million out of 1.9 million candidates scored below 200, with most failures recorded in the South-East and Lagos.

“My office has been inundated with protests, calls and visits by parents and the general public,” Eze said. “ASUU will challenge this result in the High Court if JAMB fails to review it.”

He cited University Secondary School, Nsukka, where no student scored up to 200, despite their academic excellence.

“I am not against punishing cheats, but JAMB should not fail entire centres,” he added.

He urged South-East governors to intervene, warning of possible national protests if the issue remains unaddressed.
