Six Nigerians were deported from the U.S. Wednesday under a renewed immigration crackdown targeting thousands with criminal records
Six Nigerians have been deported from the United States for various crimes, as part of the Trump administration’s broader immigration crackdown. They arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, around 9 a.m. on Wednesday aboard a Delta Airlines flight.
Their removal is linked to a U.S. plan to deport at least 3,000 Nigerians involved in criminal activities. Nigerian government officials from multiple agencies were on ground to receive them and will decide subsequent actions.
The deportations follow President Donald Trump’s intensified immigration measures, which began within his first 100 days in office. Trump authorized workplace raids and arrests outside schools and courthouses.
“It’s going to triple again,” said Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, referring to workplace immigration arrests.
Trump’s latest executive order mandates Attorney General Pam Bondi and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to list “sanctuary cities” by May 28. The order also instructs federal agencies to identify funds for “suspension or termination.”
