The spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Seye Oladejo, has defended the party’s conduct of its local government primary elections, describing the process as seamless and constitutional.
Oladejo made this known during an interview on Arise News following protests by some party stakeholders alleging imposition of candidates.
“Seamless! Typical of the political class, we are always eloquent, always persuasive and trying to sell our own position to the members of the public,” he said.
He explained that consensus candidacy is allowed under the APC constitution, adding that aggrieved members should channel their concerns through the appeal committee set up by the party.
“It will be good for members of a party to familiarise themselves with the rules of the party,” he said.
Oladejo argued that many protests stemmed from the belief that securing an APC ticket in Lagos almost guarantees electoral victory, hence the heightened tensions.
